Tom Pankratz, Texas, USA
Mr. Pankratz is the Editor of the Water Desalination Report, part of Global Water Intelligence.  GWI acquired the title in August 2005, and recruited Tom Pankratz from CH2M Hill as editor. Well-known as a board director of the IDA, Tom's involvement in numerous industry bodies and 30+ years' experience of the desal industry in the US, Middle East, Asia and Europe mean that his finger is firmly on the pulse of global desalination.

Dr. Corrado Sommariva, Abu Dhabi
Dr. Sommariva has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Genoa University and a diploma in management from Leicester University.  He joined Mott MacDonald in 2000 where he leads the Desalination and Water Treatment Group as Divisional Director. He has been involved in the majority of large scale thermal and RO processes in the Middle East in the last 15 years.

Lisa Henthorne, Dubai
Vice President and Global Director of Desalination Technology,  CH2MHill
Lisa Henthorne, P.E., is presently the 1 st Vice President of the International Desalination Association (IDA), and has been a Director of the Board of IDA for seven years. Professionally, Ms. Henthorne is a Vice President for CH2M Hill.  Prior to this appointment was VP and Membrane Technology Leader with Metcalf and Eddy, Inc. Lisa has approximately 20 years of experience working in brackish, wastewater, and seawater membrane technology in the U.S. and internationally.

Ms. Henthorne has an MS in Chemical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and a BS in Chemistry from Southwest Missouri State University. In the past, Ms. Henthorne has worked for the US Bureau of Reclamation and led their R and D program in desalination and in her last position with the Bureau of Reclamation, she was the Research Coordinator for the agency. Most recently Lisa was a partner in Aqua Resources International where she was involved in multiple seawater RO projects around the world and has been the principal author of the bi-annual Desalination Market Report. Ms. Henthorne is a registered Professional Engineer.

Dr. Julian Blanco, Spain
CIEMAT, Spanish Solar Energy Research
Dr. Greco is responsible for Environmental Applications of Solar Energy at the Plataforma Solar de Almeria  (PSA) which is a large European scientific installation belonging to the public Spanish research institution CIEMAT (devoted to Energy and Environmental issues). PSA is one of the world’s most complete existing facilities for the research, testing and development of solar technologies and applications.  For the last 16 years, Dr. Blanco has specialized in the application of solar energy to water processes,  water detoxification, water disinfection, seawater and brackish water desalination. He is author of 4 patents and the author/co-author of 7 full books, and 18 chapters in different books; he also has more than 50 publications in indexed international journals and more than 135 contributions to about 75 different International Congress and Symposiums. In 2004, jointly with his colleague Dr. Sixto Malato,  he was awarded the “Prix of Jury” in  the “Grand European Prix for Innovation Awards”.

Francois Dao,  Dubai
Regional Director Middle East, Degremont
Within Suez Environment, the men and women at Degremont are the company’s global water treatment specialists and, as such, key players in sutainable development. Degremont designs, builds and commissions installations for drinking water production, desalination by reverse osmosis, waste water treatment, and sewage sludge processing.  According to its client’s requirements, Degremont can operate its installations directly and provide all services needed for their correct operation, such as spare parts, maintenance and training.

Mr. Abdel Kaher El-Zaemey, Abu Dhabi
Mr. Abdel Kaher El-Zaemey is a civil engineer with Mott MacDonald, Abu Dhabi.

Chris Jefferys, Specialist Engineer,
GE Water & Process Technologies, Zenon.
Chris Jeffery has been a specialist engineer in MBR and wastewater with Zenon and now GE for ten years and has supervised projects in locations as diverse as Canada, Egypt, Mexico and Brazil.  He is now based at GE Water & Process Technologies' new Middle East office located in Dubai.
ZENON serves the water and wastewater treatment needs of a diverse base of customers. Utilizing advanced membrane technologies and complementary products, they cover the entire water cycle. From raw water treatment for potable use to industrial wastewater treatment, ZENON systems are being used around the world. In addition, ZENON provides a series of mobile niche products that are designed for use in the military, emergency response and disaster relief. By utilizing advanced membrane technology, ZENON can upgrade wastewater to ultrapure water, enabling industrial customers to take advantage of zero liquid discharge capabilities.
